Musicmakers at Peabody

Not many Pre-K and Kindergarten students can say they have their own CD, but 80 children from The School-Within-School Charter at Peabody Elementary can. "The Greatest CD in the Whole Solar System," was released June 5 at the school. WAMMIE-Award -winning singer/songwriter Rachel Cross has been working with the young musicians two days a week since September. "Kids are the best songwriters on the planet. They have no preconceived ideas about songwriting, and they are whirlwinds of creativity," said Cross.
The first words on the CD pretty much say it all. The opening is a child's voice saying, "I like music because it's happy feeling." The students performed some of their original songs such as "Bugs, Bugs Are Everywhere," "What Do We Know About Trees," and "Mary Took Her Lamb to Outer Space."
